"Lottie" -1.60ct (6.41x5.95x5.34mm) GIA VS1 French-Cut Victorian Diamond
This stone is a piece of history, Perfect for a design that withstands the test of time. This beautiful diamond is made to shine in candlelight. "Lottie" is an antique that was cut by hand.
The origins of French cut diamonds can be traced back to the 14th-Century; they are a natural evolution of the Table Cut, which is considered the very first example of faceted Diamonds.
The French Cut was also popular in the 1920s and was more popular in France than in other nations at a certain point in History; that's where the name probably came from. Given the most unusual lack of visible references from older literature, it seems likely that the name “The French Cut” was a 20th-Century creation.
Diamonds also rank 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness, making them the hardest gemstone used in jewelry. If the diamond is mounted carefully and treated with care, it can last for generations!
This stone is photographed in professional studio lighting that mimics natural sunlight of 5500 degrees kelvin and videoed outdoors the same.
This stone does not display fluorescence under 365nm UV light.
For care and cleaning, we strongly recommend using soapy water and a soft brush as the safest way to clean your jewelry, avoiding ultrasonic and steam cleaners. We also suggest avoiding extreme heat as it has the potential to harm the color variation of your stone. To be safe, remove your jewelry while enjoying a soak in the hot tub or steam in the sauna! You will also want to avoid strong household chemicals and cleaners such as bleach.
