Caring for Pearls
Pearls are formed in the bodies of certain mollusks and occur when an irritant enters the mollusk. Over time, the mollusk will coat the irritant with layers of protein which are called nacre. The general rule of thumb for pearl jewelry is that they should be the “last on and first off”. This means putting your pearl jewelry on as the finishing touch and last item of your outfit in the morning, and it should be the first thing off before getting undressed.
Your ring should be put on after any cosmetics, hairspray, or perfumes have been applied and dried. This will minimize the amount of contact your pearl has with chemicals that can harm and eat away at the nacre, which will cause the pearl to age more quickly. Do not wear the ring when washing your hands, showering, or applying any harsh chemicals like hand sanitizer, as any of those chemicals can degrade the adhesive that is used to adhere the pearl to the post and the pearl may fall out. Chlorine can especially degrade the adhesive, so no swimming with your ring as well.
Each time you remove your ring at the end of the night, it’s best to wipe the pearls down with a soft microfiber cloth in order to remove any chemicals that may be on the pearl.
**Please note that because we use natural materials in our rings (such as wood, antler, etc.) there WILL be variation in how the color and grain of the materials in your ring turn out. No two rings will look the same!**
Because many of our rings have natural materials in them (such as wood, antler, etc.) they do require more care than a traditional solid gold wedding band. We recommend you remove your ring for:
- Any water exposure (including handwashing) - Using household chemicals, hand sanitizer, or any other harsh chemicals - Any manual labor - Anything that might incur impact damage such as hitting your ring on hard surfaces or dropping it
- Remove your ring for any manual labor (especially anything that includes gripping items tightly such as furniture, free weights, etc.) - Remove your ring when using cosmetics, household chemicals, hand sanitizer, or any other harsh chemicals

I love that I can use my own materials. The processing fee isn’t a big freak at all. However I was nervous ordering the ring without being able to select my own material as an option before purchasing, so I know they are aware that I’m using my own material and the pricing is correct. I believe if I selected a gold inlay I would be paying much more despite not using the gold. The system in place did work and I appreciated the confirmation that they received my material. Send me another review when I receive my ring. 👍
Luckily my Fiancé loves it, however it was estimated to take 8 weeks and took 11 weeks to get shipped to me. Okay I understand delays especially the way the world is today. Inexcusable however are the two pearls they forgot to place on both sides of the tracer. In place of the pearls are plastic spacers or fake pearls. They have offered to fix the issue but again they took ELEVEN weeks to ship the first time and our wedding is much sooner than that and I have absolutely no faith in this company getting us back the ring on time or in the condition we originally paid for.
It’s kinda difficult to give a real review on the ring as I did not receive the ring I was thinking I was going to get. Upon ordering the ring, I thought I was getting the ring that was displayed on the website with the black veining. I read that the design of the veining cannot be controlled and that if I want anything specific look or color to state so. However, I loved the design that I saw on the website as it was pictured which I thought that was the ring and design I was getting. So, I was a bit confused when the ring I received had no veining. So I will be sending the ring back because I want the veining. Then in contact via email, I was told to send pictures of what I would like in the veining. So, to me I thought I could draw something and then the manufacturer could attempt to create such design. I didn’t realize I was to select a design from the website. So, to me the whole process was a bit frustrating because I did not realize how the process works. As I was just thinking I was getting what was pictured on the website for the Sophia ring. So, to me it wasn’t clear that what was on display was not what I would be getting.
