Men's Wedding Bands
Wedding Band FAQ
Men's wedding bands are traditionally worn on the ring finger, or fourth digit, of the left hand of the wearer. This is due to an ancient belief in a vein called the Vena Amoris (vein of love) that ran directly to the heart from this finger.
However, some chose to wear the wedding band on their right hand, which is a common practice in Eastern European cultures. It is also common for left-handed people to wear their ring on the right hand to prevent discomfort or damage, as they use their left hand more.
Some couples may also choose their right hand as a conscious departure from tradition.
At the end of the day, your wedding ring is yours to wear. So, wear it in a way that aligns with your lifestyle and your beliefs.
Traditionally, the groom would purchase the bride’s wedding band, and the bride would buy the groom’s wedding band. However, today it is much more fluid.
Couples often:
- Split the cost together
- Buy their own bands
- Gift each other’s as a surprise
- Budget based on design preferences
There's no one-size-fits-all rule. Just choose what feels fair, fun, and meaningful for your relationship.
Wedding band fit can vary from person to person, but the general goal is to find a ring that fits snug on your finger without being too tight or too loose.
A ring thats too tight can cause discomfort, while a ring thats too loose can twist or slip off more easily than you might like.
Are you having trouble getting the ring onto your finger in the first place? That's a sign that it's too small, and that you may need to look for a larger size. Once on your finger, try rotating the ring back and forth or sliding it up and down. If there is room to do this without feeling any discomfort, then you've likely found a good fit.
How much you should spend on a wedding ring is completely dependent on you and your partner. Most couples create a budget that works for them based on their financial situation, financial goals, and what they are looking for in a wedding band.
