What is Gold Vermeil? 

These Gold Vermeil earrings have a 925 Sterling Silver base metal, which is then plated with a thick layer of gold. Most gold-plated jewelry is done using a low-quality base metal, like copper or brass, and is then coated in a very thin layer of gold. All of the Gold Vermeil we sell is a minimum of 4 times thicker than a standard gold-plated item! This thicker layer means the plating on your item will last exponentially longer and is much less likely to tarnish. 

It's important to note that gold plating is a surface treatment, and over time, the gold layer may gradually wear off with regular use. However, with proper care and maintenance, including avoiding contact with harsh chemicals and storing the jewelry properly, gold-plated silver jewelry can retain its beauty for an extended period.
