Staghead Designs

Our Story

Our tale mirrors yours in many ways—a narrative steeped in love, symbolic gifts, and growth. To truly capture the essence of Staghead Designs' journey, we must acknowledge pivotal moments. It all commenced in 2012 when an antler shed, discovered on the lush hills beyond our home, ignited a spark of imagination within us. Unimpressed by the conventional choices of engagement rings, it was the antler—encountered on one spring day—that offered us a bold challenge: to handcraft a ring from this touch of the wild. Lacking formal expertise in such artisanship, we discovered that conviction, driven by a heartfelt mission, can spur inventiveness.

Our weekends were spent at the local farmer's market, where our modest artisanal creations provided the funds to acquire essential tools. Armed with these implements, our ambition was to mold a piece of jewelry from the antler. Though raw and crude, our first foray charted a course toward relentless refinement. We devoted many nights, nestled on our living room floor, to delicately shaping bone and later wood, using a hand-held Dremel. With every attempt, the craft was honed, propelled by the delight in our blossoming talents and the pride in every finished product.

What began as a desire for something distinct and personalized, a compelling artistic impulse, has flourished into a business still firmly anchored in its initial values: to create pieces with connection and meaning. Jewelry, so intrinsically linked to personal stories and experiences, carries an elegant capacity for importance. Crafting such treasures is a privilege, and we do so with reverence, breathing life into your visions, crafting jewelry not just of beauty, but destined to become treasured family heirlooms.

From the founders

"When we were getting married, I was overwhelmingly disappointed with the options available to me. I had limited knowledge of jewelry and a very, very limited budget. I ended up with a "mall" ring and, while I still love its meaning and sentiment, I yearned for something different for both myself and my husband. While hiking the hills around our home, we found an antler shed, and I asked Brad to make me a ring from it. So he did, and then he made more and more, eventually adding wood to them. We started selling them at farmers' markets and on Etsy, and slowly, Brad became a self-taught wood and antler ring jeweler. Our interest grew, and we went from working on the living room floor with Dremel tools to running a full-scale shop with over 30 employees.

As our business expanded, Brad pursued further education and expertise, becoming a GIA-certified gemologist. He also learned computer-aided design (CAD), bench jewelry techniques, and casting, which allowed us to elevate our designs and craftsmanship to new levels. This commitment to growth and mastery has been instrumental in transforming Staghead Designs into a leader in creating meaningful, custom jewelry."

"Our core values have remained the same since day one. One of those being quality hand made products, designed and manufactured here in the heart of Ogden, Utah. It has always been important to us that we are always made locally.

We also strive to be customer first, show them that we understand that this occasion they are purchasing for is likely to be for the biggest event of their lives. We do not take that lightly and our team goes above and beyond to take care of our customers.

Lastly is we always strive to do better than we did yesterday. To make sure that we are taking accountability when necessary and doing better moving forward. As long as we are making our products here, that we are doing it with the customer in mind and we are doing our absolute best, then we will continue to grow and make the most beautiful and amazing wedding jewelry out there."

“We’ve seen firsthand how empowering it can be for clients to break away from convention and prioritize what truly matters to them. Whether it’s choosing a stone with unique inclusions, incorporating sentimental materials, or designing something completely unconventional, our clients are redefining what meaningful jewelry looks like. This shift reflects a broader movement toward self-expression and individuality, and we are honored to be part of that journey. By guiding our clients to embrace their authentic selves, we help them create pieces that will remain cherished symbols of their story for years to come.”

“We love a challenge and thrive on bringing unique and unconventional ideas to life. Over the years, we’ve incorporated incredibly personal and creative elements into our designs, such as car parts, a branch from the tree where a couple got engaged, and even lace from the bride's wedding dress.”

“These special touches allow us to craft pieces that are truly one-of-a-kind and deeply meaningful to the wearer. Our process begins by understanding the client’s vision, story, and personality, and then working collaboratively to select materials and design details that align with their unique narrative. Whether it’s a traditional or out-of-the-box concept, we are dedicated to making it a reality.”

“For special occasions like engagements or weddings, it’s about selecting a piece that feels like an extension of your story and values—something you’ll treasure forever because it reflects who you truly are.”

“At Staghead Designs, we embrace the use of non-traditional stones such as moonstone, moss agate, and salt and pepper diamonds. These stones offer unique beauty and individuality, making them perfect for those who want their jewelry to tell a distinct story. We also celebrate stones with inclusions and other internal characteristics, as these natural imperfections add depth and personality, making each stone truly one-of-a-kind. It’s undeniable that you can feel a personal connection to a stone, and it’s important to know that you don’t have to choose the traditional, expensive colorless diamond. Instead, you can select a stone that resonates with you, both aesthetically and emotionally, allowing your jewelry to truly represent your heart and spirit.”
